Journals for Healing
Putting Recovery in Their Hands
For many survivors, the first steps toward healing are the hardest. A simple journal can be a powerful tool, offering a safe space to process emotions, reflect on experiences, and begin to rebuild. Through our Journals for Healing campaign, we aim to distribute journals to survivors in crisis centers, advocacy organizations, and other critical touch-points to provide immediate and impactful support.
Why This Campaign Matters
Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted (RAINN), and too many survivors face the aftermath feeling isolated and unsupported. Professionals often recommend journaling as a therapeutic tool, but many survivors lack access to this simple resource. Journals provide a tangible way for survivors to process their emotions, regain control, and take the first steps toward recovery. The Journals for Healing campaign bridges this gap, ensuring that survivors have access to an immediate and empowering tool for healing.
How It Will Help Survivors
Emotional Processing: Journals allow survivors to release pent-up emotions and articulate their thoughts in a safe, private space.
Empowerment: Writing helps survivors reclaim their narrative and take control of their healing journey.
Stress Relief: Journaling has been shown to reduce anxiety and improve emotional well-being.
Guided Support: Each journal includes prompts and exercises designed to encourage healing and self-discovery.
Accessibility: By providing these journals free of charge at critical locations like hospitals and advocacy centers, we ensure survivors have access to this invaluable resource when they need it most.
Your support can make a life-changing difference. By contributing to the Journals for Healing campaign, you’re giving survivors a tool to begin their recovery journey. Help us reach our goal of distributing journals to those who need them most. Every donation brings us closer to making an impact.

Outreach Initiative
Extending a Lifeline to Survivors
Survivors cannot always come to us, so we go to them. Through our Outreach Initiative, The 1st 28 Foundation partners with hospitals, crisis centers, police stations, advocacy organizations, and community groups to ensure that survivors have access to healing resources at the moment they need them most.
Why This Campaign Matters
Many survivors encounter their first opportunity for support in a hospital room, a police station, or a crisis center. Those moments are critical. When a professional recommends journaling as a healing tool and has nothing to offer, that opportunity is lost. Our Outreach Initiative exists to make sure that never happens. By building relationships with the organizations already serving survivors, we place free journals and healing resources directly into those spaces so no woman leaves empty-handed.
How It Will Help Survivors
Supporting this campaign funds the production and distribution of free journals to our partner organizations, helps us establish new partnerships with facilities serving survivors in our region, and ensures that every organization in our network has resources available at the point of first contact with a survivor.
Are you part of an organization that serves survivors? We would love to connect. Reach out to learn how The 1st 28 Foundation can partner with you to make sure no survivor in your community goes without support.
